URGENT! - Swiss Pairs Cancelled
Please be aware that due to an unfortunate lack of entries, the Swiss Pairs Championship due to be held this Sunday has been cancelled. The next County Event is the Anniversary Teams which will be held on Sunday 26th October.
Committee Meeting
The next committee meeting will be held on Thursday 11th September 2008 at 7pm at Nottingham Bridge Club. The agenda is available here.
Attention is drawn to the Constitution 3(c)(iii) - ‘An Affiliated Club may be represented by one person at meetings of the Committee: however, that representative shall no have voting rights.’
EBU Club Committee
The EBU is setting up a ‘Club Committee’ to help it deal with issues of importance to clubs and club players [See page 33 of the August ‘English Bridge’ or the latest edition of the EBU Club Focus Newsletter].
It needs representation from all types and sizes of Bridge Clubs across all regions. At present, the Midlands is unrepresented. Anyone interested should contact Sally Bugden as indicated in the ‘English Bridge’ item. The first meeting is to be in September so hurry if you are interested in representing the Midlands.
Three Counties Team Event
The second round of the annual Three Counties team event took place on Augist 21st at the East Midlands Bridge Centre.
Nottinghamshire performed strongly in Division 1 with Gambit (67 IMPs) winning the division and Keyworth (42 IMPs) finishing second. This puts Nottinghamshire 54 IMPs clear of Derbyshire overall.
In Division 2, Mansfield (19 IMPs) finsihed fourth behind Rolls Royce (56 IMPs), County Club B (51 IMPs) and Derby Club B (43 IMPs). Derbyshire have a commanding lead in the overall competition for Division 2.
In Division 3, Sunday Tigers (19 IMPs) also managed fourth place behind Ashby (63 IMPs), Barkby (46 IMPs) and Ripley A (23 IMPs). Leicestershire lead the overall competition for Division 3 by 153 IMPs.
County Youth Officer Required
There is a vacancy on the NCBA Committee for County Youth Officer. This involves being the contact point with the EBU regarding Youth Policy and liaison with young players in Nottinghamshire.
